I allowed myself to get caught a little short today. I had thought that I had put into draft mode all of the events that I could find in the Cedar City area and that I had filled up the entire week. I was surprised when I went to publish today’s post and realized that I didn’t need to write a post for Saturday, I needed it for today!
So I scrambled through some of my logs of photographs that I have taken with our digital camera, and I came across some photos that we had taken on a trip that we made over the mountain past Kolob Reservoir and on into the City of Virgin, near Zion National Park.
From Cedar City, this is a trip that can ONLY BE DONE IN THE SUMMER, you have to allow the snow to melt. The last I heard there were still several feet of snow on the road going over the top of the mountain, so don’t try it for at least 3 to 4 months.
Once the snow has melted, this offers some great views of Zion National Park. I am including 3 photographs, all of which were taken from a moving vehicle, but they turned out well.
This is a trip that could be augmented with fishing, hiking, camping and other fun stuff, but you need to plan now. There is a lot of private property up there, so you need to make sure that you’re okay to camp where you choose to camp. As you can see, it is a very beautiful area, with lots of vistas to photograph, so don’t by shy!
