The Christmas break is quickly approaching for both the Public Schools and the University, which means that the number of activities will be less than when these schools are in session. There are still some great activities to enjoy in the Cedar City area.
Tonight there is a Playmakers Production of Charles Dickens’s “A Christmas Carol”. This will be held 7:30 PM. This will be held in the Randall L Jones Theatre (300 W University Blvd, Cedar City). Admission is Adults $5 and Children $3. For information call 435-586-7878 or visit www.bard.org.
Don’t forget that the Senior Art Exhibit is ongoing all this week through Saturday.
Tomorrow Night there are also some fun things to do. The production of “A Christmas Carol” continues at the Randall L Jones Theatre. There will also be comedy, Off the Cuff, the premier Improv Comedy Theatre Company will be performing short and long form improv at 10:00 PM. This will be at the new Improv Training Center (913 S Main St, Cedar City, next to Staples and IFA). Admission is $5 students and $7 regular admission. Saturday provides some interesting activities, starting with the Zion Christmas Bird Count. This will begin at 8:00 AM at Zion National Park South Park Entrance. This year’s controller and compiler will be Fred Armstrong.
You will need to contact Mr. Crow for assigning zones and groups. Please reply with your level of birding expertise – can you do a zone by yourself or would you like to accompany a more-experienced birder? This is stuff that if you’re going to participate in you will know what these questions mean. If you can do your own zone, would you be willing to take less-experienced birders with you? Do you have any special needs or skills that will determine which zones are or are not appropriate for you (e.g. physical disability, long-distance hiker, good endurance for uphill hikes, fine with hiking off-trail, etc.)?
There is also going to be Fall & Winter Market held indoor at 509 N 200 W, Cedar City held 9:00am to 12:00pm. Fresh locally grown vegetables and fruits, Artisan cheeses, bread, jams & jellies, fresh eggs and hot food vendors. Vendors welcome, (Must have licenses if required). Sunday brings us The Orchestra of Southern Utah presenting Cedar City’s 71st annual presentation of Handel’s Messiah, This will be held at 7:30 PM in the Heritage Center (105 N 100 E, Cedar City). Admission is Free, but seating is on a first come first choose basis so arrive early for best seating. The doors will open at 6:45 PM enjoy the lobby music which will be provided by Southern Utah String Quintet on Sunday and the Accidental 5 Brass Quintet on Monday.
