In past years Cedar City was a favored location to shoot movies and later some TV shows, so stars weren’t all that uncommon to see here in town. My Mother when she was younger met some of the luminaries of Hollywood’s Golden Age, John Wayne, Natalie Wood, Roddy McDowell she watched them film the Movie “Drums Along the Mohawk, with Henry Fonda and Claudette Colbert. Robert Mitchum filmed the Movie “The Big Cat”, here, so it wasn’t too uncommon in the 40’s and 50’s to see Hollywood’s stars.
Tomorrow from 4 to 7:30 PM Weststates Stadium 8 will be hosting one of the young actors of the Steven Spielberg’s newest Movie “Super 8, The IMAX Experience”. Like I said it has been a while since we have had a movie star appear here like that. (Although I would swear that Darcy and I had lunch next to Talia Shire a year or so ago, but that is an entirely different story.) So stop by and meet young Riley Griffiths at the Westates Stadium 8 Theater tomorrow afternoon. For more information: http://www.westatestheatres.com/
The Utah Summer Games will continue as well, for a schedule of competitions check out: http://www.utahsummergames.org

They are hoping to have Cedar Breaks National Monument open this weekend as well. This has been delayed due to the high volume of snow that was left in our mountains. For more information: www.nps.gov/cebr.
