Today begins the annual Cedar City Livestock & Heritage Festival begins today with many wonderful and fun events both today and tomorrow.  Here are today’s activities:

Cedar City Livestock & Heritage Festival held at the Cross Hollow Events Center (West of Cedar City on Hwy 56). Featuring today: Color Country Quilt Show & Youth Art Show (noon – 7:3pm), Stock Dog Demo (4:00pm – 5:00pm), Livestock Festival (3:00pm – 7:00pm), Cowboy Poetry & Music (3:00pm – 7:00pm), Draft Horse Show & Demo (5:00pm – 7:00pm), and Dave Stamey in Concert (7:30pm). Color Country Quilt Show & Youth Art Show
Noon – 7:30 p.m.
The Color Country Quilt Guild will display their beautifully made quilts and textile art. Also, student artwork will be on display. On display in the Heritage Center Festival Hall, 105 N. 100 East.
Stock Dog Demo
4-5 p.m.
See demos with sheep, cattle and ducks at Cross Hollows Events Center Outdoor Arena.
Livestock Festival
3 to 7 p.m.
Honoring Cedar City’s rich agricultural heritage. Featuring vendors, agricultural displays, antique tractor show, ongoing cowboy poetry, music and more. Held at the Cross Hollows Events Center.
Cowboy Poetry & Music
3 to 7 p.m.
Throughout the Livestock Festival, cowboy poets and musicians will entertain festival patrons with lively music and prose. Cowboy poetry is a form of poetry which grew out of a tradition carried on by workers on cattle drives and ranches. After a day of work, cowboys would gather around a campfire and entertain one another with tall tales and folk songs. The tradition lives on through festivals and gatherings throughout the West, including the Cedar Livestock & Heritage Festival. Performers will be on stage in the indoor Diamond Z Arena at the Cross Hollows Events Center
Draft Horse Show & Demo5 to 7 p.m.Featuring the World Champion Draft Horse Pulling Team. Show/Demo will feature several draft horse breeds, including Belgians, Percherons, Shires & Friesians. Held at the outdoor arena at Cross Hollows.
Dave Stamey In Concert 7:30 p.m.$15  Tickets are on sale at the Heritage Theater Box Office, 105 N. 100 East in Cedar City, and 435-865-2882.

The Lance Dennett Memorial Fund presents Tombstone Tribute 2011 Held 8:00pm to 1:00am at Toadz (432 N 100 W, Cedar City). Event will feature a costume party, drawings, live bands and more. Proceeds will benefit the following recipients: Evan G Wilcock, Lucy Dennett, Clayton Price, Jaymon Foxx, Jeremy Utter, Eloise Talley, Dennis V. Frazier, Correen G. Frazier, Cheryl Maher, and Scott Wiggin.

Off the Cuff is the premier Improv Comedy Theatre Company performing short and long form improv at 10pm at the new Improv Training Center (913 S Main St, Cedar City, next to Staples and IFA).
