I have been doing some of my self improvement lately. I have been reading Shift, and Millionaire Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller. Both are very informative and very good reads. In his Millionaire Real Estate Agent, Gary Keller uses modeling as an important skill set to learn. According to him, we should model our businesses after successful agents.
This is an important thing to remember, every successful person has habbits that have made him or her successful. There are basic things that all of them do. They go to work every day, they follow up, they prospect. Contrary to what we may believe, prospecting is not exclusive to just Real Estate. Every business has to have leads, which come by marketing or prospecting.
Anyway, I found a quote this morning that re emphasizes the importance of modeling and setting big goals, that Gary Keller talks about. It comes from Tryon Edwards, who compiled the New Dictionary of Thoughts. What I found interesting is that Tryon Edwards lived in the 19th Century, dying in 1894. So these ideas are not something that has come around in the past 25 or 30 years. Here is the quote:
“People never improve unless they look to some standard or example higher or better than themselves.”
So the thought for today is set goals that make you really stretch, model your business after someone that is achieving high successes. Then Make it Happen, hold yourself to those goals and aspirations! If you don’t do it, NO ONE else will!
