In continuing with the cities in the South Davis county area, West Bountiful is next on my list. It is a small community located oddly enough just west of Bountiful. It has also seen some rapid growth in the past decade or so. There are still some great pioneer homes in West Bountiful, as evidenced by the Elderidge houses. These are great pioneer brick homes.
The 2010 census shows that 5,265 people call West Bountiful home. It was founded in 1848 by the Mormon Pioneer, James Fackrell. For many years it was a farming community with the Phillips (now Holly) oil refinery on it’s southern border. Now it is a wonderful community with a mixture of older and newer homes. Some homes still have acreage with them.
It is a wonderful option for those who are looking to commute to either Salt Lake or the Ogden areas. Interstate freeway and mass transit access are convenient and it really is a community where you can stretch out and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Shopping is convenient as well, all of these options really do make the city of West Bountiful an attractive option.
