In Utah we celebrate the 24th of July as a State Holiday, it is the day that we commemorate the entry of the Mormon Pioneers into the Salt Lake Valley in 1847. As a kid I remember thinking how great it was that we got to have parades and fireworks twice in the month of July! I was surprised when I found out that not every State had fireworks twice in July.
This year the 24th of July is Sunday, which means that depending where you live, it will either be celebrated Saturday or Monday. Some business may be closed, and don’t be surprised to see fireworks on either of those nights! If you’re in the State, come on and enjoy the party! There are usually Rodeos, Parades, foot races, (marathons, 5K and 10K runs etc.) and usually some sort of celebrations in the parks.
These celebrations are really fun in the smaller towns, they really get together and have a good time. Parowan and Paragonah are celebrating on Saturday, and Cedar City I know is celebrating it on Monday. Where ever you decide to celebrate, it is bound to be a great time!
